OUR STORY
So, where did it all begin?
With meat, of course.
I come from a long line of butchers and purveryors of fine meats. My grandfather and great-grandfather were both butchers who ran and operated their own meat shops. In 1948, my grandfather opened Central Meat Market in the ByWard Market. My father, Danny, ran a wholesale meat business in Ottawa for years, but always wanted to open his own butcher shop one day. He fulfilled his dream when he sold his prized candy apple red Thunderbird, and opened the Butchery in 1980 with his partner, Jack Beaudin. Since then, we've been serving our local community with pride.
The Butchery was born out of a belief that by providing the highest quality meat, excellent customer service, competitive pricing and consistency in our products, we would have steady, satisfied customers.
I started working at the Butchery at the age of fourteen, and never stopped. I fell in love with cutting meat, and even more in love with serving customers. To me, my job isn't a job- it's what I love to do. And what I love most is our customers. I enjoy talking with them, sharing my knowledge, answering their questions, making them laugh and putting a smile on their faces - all while providing personalized service and the best products possible.
If you've never been to our store, come and visit us. And to those who have been with us along the way, thank you for your support. You are the reason we do what we do.
'Til we meat again,
Mark
